A global campaign for the New Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030
Streets for life is building a world where neighborhood streets are safe, healthy, green and liveable. Low speed streets, particularly in urban areas, are integral so people can walk, live and play freely. Streets for life aims to help people and the planet.
#streetsforlife is the global message of the New Decade of Action for Road Safety with the goal to reduce the number of victims on the roads in half by 2030.
The symbol of the campaign is inspired by road signage and evokes our ambition:
make people's lives better and give them more opportunities by making the roads safer.

Each year, global road traffic crashes cause nearly 1.3 million preventable deaths and an estimated 50 million injuries – making it the leading killer of children and young people worldwide.
The Secretariat of the United Nations Secretary General ‘s Special Envoy for Road Safety partners with JCDecaux to launch a new road safety campaign.
supported by celebrities, will offer
unrivalled visibility to road safety messages in 80 countries around the world,
starting in NYC in July 2022.

The campaign is a multi-stakeholder collaboration in the area of road safety, to achieve the target to reduce by 50 percent the number of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

Improvement to road safety is also essential to achieve many of the Sustainable Development Goals: environment, health, sustainable cities, human rights, access to employment and education, and gender equality. Safe roads and affordable transportation are fundamental conditions for women and their children to access work, education, health, and social services, including one’s social network of family, friends, and forms of entertainment.
